How to Make a Charm Bag

Select the material that you would like to use for your bag. Velvet, felt, or leather are good choices. You can also use cotton or any other fabric. Because of it's rich texture, velvet is a good choice for charm bags designed to bring money and prosperity to you.

Select the color of fabric for your charm bag. The color you choose depends on the purpose for your bag.

Pink is used for love.

Red is used for passion or sex.

Black is used for banishing and revenge.

Blue is used for spirituality and healing.

Purple is used for protection and also for psychic power.

Gold is used for wealth and prosperity.

Green is used for financial matters.

White is used for purity and cleansing. It can also be used for spirituality.

Other color associations that you may want to consider are:

Silver for the Goddess

Gold for the God

White for the angels or your spirit guide.

Green for fairies.

Cut your material into two square sections. Place the two pieces together with the insides facing each other.

Slowly sew three of the sides of the pouch together. While you sew your charm bag, focus your thoughts on the purpose for the charm. Visualize your goal coming true for you and know that as you sew your energy is being put into your charm bag and being sent out into the Universe and to the Goddess.

Next you can decorate your charm bag in any way that you wish. You may wish to draw meaningful symbols on the bag. You can can write your purpose on the bag. Sewing beads, sequins, ribbons, or other decorations on the bag is a good idea. The more effort and time you put into decorating and working with your charm bag, the more of your personal energy you infuse into it. While you are doing this, imagine that the charm bag is working its magic for you.

Now add the ingredients that you want to have in your charm bag. You can use anything that you feel is symbolic of the goal you wish to reach. Dried herbs, crystals, photos, written words, flower petals, trinkets, a small magnet (for magnetism), you can even spray the inside or outside of the bag with a perfume or dab it with essential oil.

Sew the top of your charm bag closed. If you wish, you can sew a ribbon onto the bag to hang it with. You may also carry the charm bag in your pocketbook, bag, or in your pocket.

A Book of Shadows – or Grimoire – is a place for a witch to keep her spells, rituals and other secrets.  Here is a list of examples of what would go into your BOS: I would begin by writing down the Wiccan Rede, to set out my intentions and beliefs from the start.  I can get all geeky and get my calligraphy set out and make it look really pretty You could always note down this shorter version if you prefer:

Spells and rituals that you gather from different places or write yourself – and it’s helpful to take notes after you cast each spell, to see how you feel different and what changes it has brought in your life. Herbs, incenses and oils and their properties – especially keeping track of your own experiments with them and how they affect you. Crystals and their properties – again, taking notes of how you feel using different crystals or what effect they have on your life.  All this information will come in handy later on, when you want to write your own spells! Helpful notes on moon phases and how they affect spell work, colour properties, candle magick etc.  Basically any useful information you can find. Daily appreciation notes are always good for your mind and soul, and to raise your vibrations to attract more goodness into your life Interesting or creative ideas, sketches and such of tools you’d like to make or buy, decorations for your altar, ideas for your garden… Anything you come across and would like to keep for inspiration. Recipes – potions, herb blends, sabbat celebration foods… A meditation or visualisation diary if that’s what you’re into.  With spell casting it is important to keep a clear and focused mind to achieve the best results, so regular meditation will be helpful, and you might want to take some notes if you have any specific feelings or insights.  The same goes for visualisation – after casting a spell, vividly and regularly visualising your goals in a joyful way will improve your chances of success – so that might be worth taking notes of. You can decorate your Book of Shadows however you like.  It can be any book that takes your fancy – whether you want to start from scratch on a plain notebook, or you want to buy a big, old Harry Potter-style spell book, is up to you. You can come a long way with some superglue and accessories like sequins, string, little crystals or small stones, twigs and colour pens…  The sky is the limit!

Banishing/protection spell:

Purpose:

The intent of this spell is to remove a person from your life (and the life of the ones that you love) who is doing harm (or just causing problems). This spell will not inflict harm on the target. It will simply cause the target to get out of your life.

Materials:

1 black candle (for banishing) (if banishing more than one person add one black candle for each additional person)
1 white candle (for protection) (if protecting more than one person, add one white candle per extra person)
Parchment
Black thread (string, or yarn will also work)
Olive oil
Cloves (two or three crushed)

Timing: New moon or full moon

Directions:

Write the target's name (or the names of multiple people you need to banish) on the top of the parchment. Write your name (and/or the names of the people that he/she should also leave alone) at the bottom.

Next you should work up some emotions. You should first focus on a loving and protective mood. You want to be a shield for yourself and any others that you want to protect.

Take your Olive oil add the cloves to it. You should focus intently on yourself and the others that you want to protect encircled in a brilliant white and blue protective sphere. Meditate on this for several minutes while holding the olive oil in your hand. You might also visualize using a knife (or scissors) to cut any psychic bonds the target has to the ones being protected. After they are cut they can not be reconnected due to the protective sphere.

Use the olive oil (with the clove mix in) to dress the white candle. You should also use the olive oil to anoint the name of each person that is to be protected. This is symbolic of you intent of protection from the target(s).

Next you want to envision the target of this spell sending negative energy towards you and the ones that you are protecting. This should make you very mad. You will stop at nothing to protect yourself and the others from this negative force. Do anything that you need to work yourself into a frenzy But it should be caused by a protective reaction. You will want to keep this mood for the remainder of the spell!

Inscribe the target's name on the black candle (one person per candle). While doing this you should focus intently on this person leaving the life or the ones to be protected. You might consider visualizing them packing their things and leaving town altogether. If you are targeting multiple people, use multiple candles. Hold the candle(s) in your hand and just focus on your anger for them. Tell them out loud that you will not let them interfere or harm you (or the others) ever!! Be very direct and to the point. You want to infuse this emotion into the candle(s).

As you are saying the spell (see below) tear the parchment separating the target's name from the names at the bottom. This should be a gradual process. You should complete the tear as you finish the very last iteration of the following chant (ie. If you say it three times, you should complete the tear as you finish the third iteration.) Put some emotion into the tearing process. You are ripping them away from you and the ones that you are protecting. Do it like you mean it!

, I command you to leave alone. From this moment forward, you will not have any contact with them. You will not speak of them. You will not influence them. You will not visit them. You will not do any of these things either directly or indirectly. You can do absolutely nothing that will affect their lives in any way. This is my will. So mote it be!

Now fold up the portion of the parchment with the target's name on as tightly as you possibly can. Tie it up in black yarn, thread, or string. As you do this visualize this thread (symbolizing your will) wrapping around the target. This is to restrain them from the ones that you are protecting.

Now say, you are bound. Only I can release this spell. This spell will harm no one and can never return to me.

Bury the bound piece of parchment where is will not be disturbed ever. As you do this visualize the earth engulfing the target preventing him/her from returning. You can also sprinkle salt over the little burial site for added protection.

The other portion of the parchment (with the names of the protected ones), should be placed in a clean new white envelope. After sealing the envelope, smear the olive oil mixture over the seal for added protection. Keep this envelope in a safe place. Do not open it.

Allow the candles to burn down completely. As they burn, the energy of your spell will be released.

For tread the Circle thrice about to keep unwelcome spirits out.
To bind the spell well every time, let the spell be said in rhyme.

Light of eye and soft of touch, speak you little, listen much.
Honor the Old Ones in deed and name,
let love and light be our guides again.

Deosil go by the waxing moon, chanting out the joyful tune.
Widdershins go when the moon doth wane,
and the werewolf howls by the dread wolfsbane.

When the Lady's moon is new, kiss the hand to Her times two.
When the moon rides at Her peak then your heart's desire seek.

Heed the North winds mighty gale, lock the door and trim the sail.
When the Wind blows from the East, expect the new and set the feast.

When the wind comes from the South, love will kiss you on the mouth.
When the wind whispers from the West, all hearts will find peace and rest.

Nine woods in the Cauldron go, burn them fast and burn them slow.
Birch in the fire goes to represent what the Lady knows.

Oak in the forest towers with might, in the fire it brings the God's
insight.   Rowan is a tree of power causing life and magick to flower.

Willows at the waterside stand ready to help us to the Summerland.
Hawthorn is burned to purify and to draw faerie to your eye.

Hazel-the tree of wisdom and learning adds its strength to the bright fire burning.
White are the flowers of Apple tree that brings us fruits of fertility.

Grapes grow upon the vine giving us both joy and wine.
Fir does mark the evergreen to represent immortality seen.

Elder is the Lady's tree burn it not or cursed you'll be.
Four times the Major Sabbats mark in the light and in the dark.

As the old year starts to wane the new begins, it's now Samhain.
When the time for Imbolc shows watch for flowers through the snows.

When the wheel begins to turn soon the Beltane fires will burn.
As the wheel turns to Lamas night power is brought to magick rite.

Four times the Minor Sabbats fall use the Sun to mark them all.
When the wheel has turned to Yule light the log the Horned One rules.

In the spring, when night equals day time for Ostara to come our way.
When the Sun has reached it's height time for Oak and Holly to fight.

Harvesting comes to one and all when the Autumn Equinox does fall.
Heed the flower, bush, and tree by the Lady blessed you'll be.

Where the rippling waters go cast a stone, the truth you'll know.
When you have and hold a need, harken not to others greed.

With a fool no season spend or be counted as his friend.
Merry Meet and Merry Part bright the cheeks and warm the heart.

Mind the Three-fold Laws you should three times bad and three times good.
When misfortune is enow wear the star upon your brow.

Be true in love this you must do unless your love is false to you.
